September News 2023
September 1, 2023
It was bound to happen. We're 22 days away from summer ending here in the Northern Hemisphere. Then it won't be long until winter is upon us and our misery begins. As you may have figured out, I'm not a big fan of the dreary months. But enough of that! It's still summer!
The audiobook edition of The Sinful is complete. It's going through quality control right now, so the release date will be around September 8th. Great news for all of you audiobook junkies hounding me about it! The narrator is a talented actor named Nico Fragoso. He was a gem to work with, and I love his interpretation of all the characters. Nico certainly made The Sinful fun to listen to. Look for an announcement from me when the audiobook is officially available on iTunes, Amazon, and Audible.
Now to some nitty-gritty. Early feedback from the lucky readers who received an advanced copy of Into the Marrow has been ecstatic. Everyone loves the second book in the Leroy Cutter series, and I couldn't be happier. Into the Marrow is a great book. I'm proud of it. There's one official early review from Emily Quinn of Quintillion Words. She's a Brit, and I caught her off-guard with Leroy Cutter, a sarcastic American who makes questionable life choices. Here's a sample of the review:
"Okay, my thriller break didn't last that long but WHO CARES because I've discovered yet another author that I'm going to shout about from the rooftops. G. W. Allison's second book in the Leroy Cutter series completely surprised me and I had an amazing time with it, even without reading the first! Think we've got another king of character development over here… So thrilled to be sharing my review of Into The Marrow ahead of its November release!"
You can read the full review here.
There's also an author interview I had fun doing on the site, as well. Check them both out, like them, share them, and reblog them if you're a blogger. I have a feeling Into the Marrow is going to be a breakout book for me. This will be like you discovering John Grisham or Lawrence Block before anyone knew who they were. It's that good. This brings me to the latest news on book three.
I'm about 2/3 done with book three in the Leroy Cutter series. There's a title, but I'm keeping it a secret. See my previous newsletters for the reason. This is an ambitious book as I'm telling four stories that tie together into one big finale. I'm also introducing a new character that I hope to spin off into her own series. You read that right. The new character is a female homicide detective with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Her debut is intense. Everyone in book three is going to have a hard time. I have no mercy for anyone in the land of Cutter this time around. I'm having a good time writing the book, but it is exhausting. I'm shooting for a summer 2024 release. I'll keep you posted.
That's it for Cutter News. If you haven't read The Sinful, now is the time. It makes a great gift, too! Tell your friends, family, and strangers. Readers sharing their thoughts on books goes a long way for authors. I buy my books based on suggestions from friends almost exclusively, and I've discovered many great writers I would've otherwise missed. Let them know as Into the Marrow will be released on November 7, 2023.
If you have read The Sinful, but haven't written a review, please take the time to do so. Reviews help independent authors immensely, and I appreciate every one of them. Amazon and goodreads are the best places, but if you use a different platform, then by all means, leave a review there. It doesn't have to be long or fancy. I don't like long reviews when I'm book shopping. Just give me your overall thoughts. Thank you to those who have already written one, and thank you to those who are going to write one after reading this newsletter.
Enjoy the rest of your summer, and have a safe Labor Day Weekend. For those in the Southern Hemisphere, winter is almost over. Hang in there.
All my best,
GW
